Beatrice Rammstedtová z německého Mannheimu a její kolega Jürgen Schupp z Berlína se snažili ve své práci najít pět zásadních osobnostních charakteristik, které spojují dva lidi a udržují v dlouhodobém vztahu. Do studie přitom zapojili šest tisíc párů z celého Německa.
Z analýzy vyplynulo, že lidé si hledají partnery a jsou s nimi v dlouhodobém vztahu tehdy, pokud se jim samotným podobají v ochotnosti, svědomitosti či zásadovosti a otevřenosti. Přitom extroverze a emocionální stabilita jako důležité vlastnosti prokázány nebyly.
Lidé v dlouhodobých vztazích, které podle nich byly šťastné a pevné, sdíleli se svým partnerem právě míru ochotnosti a svědomitosti. Nelze ale opomenout fakt, že dlouhodobým soužitím se lidé sobě navzájem podobají stále více, neboť se svým myšlením ovlivňují.
Studie byla publikovaná v odborném časopise Personality and Individual Differences.
